Benefits of Roof Restoration

Blog

Roof restoration refers to the process of restoring a roof to its former condition by cleaning, fixing and re-painting it. All roofs can benefit from roof restoration, including concrete, galvanised and terracotta tiled roofs. Roof restoration not only makes your roof safer and prevents it from collapsing under from age-induced or weather-induced damage, but it also gives your entire home a new look. You may have purchased a new property with a worn out roof or are wanting to sell your current property with the roof needing work. Either way, re-vamping the roof will help increase property value and improve its overall aesthetic.

Additional benefits from roof restoration

Re-coating tiles prevents roof tiles from absorbing moisture from rain. When tiles absorb rain, they become structurally weak.

Roof restoration also involves re-pointing ridge caps. This means that they are safer in extreme weather conditions. This is important for protecting your family in severe conditions. If these ridge caps are loose, then they can become dislodged in the event of a storm.

Roof restoration involves using a membrane coating your pointing. This coating prevents UV rays from wearing out the pointing mortar. Additionally, it also reduces temperature-induced expansion and contraction in pointings, making them more durable and long lasting. This expansion and contraction can damage the pointing.

Leaks are prevented when roofs are restored periodically. With time, roof tiling wears out and leakages can occur. This can be frustrating and can damage your house and belongings. Roof restoration ensures that your roof is properly sealed, preventing any water from escaping into your home.

Another problem with roof damage is that it allows air to escape, making the interior of your home more prone to temperature changes, meaning that you have to spend more money on heating and cooling. When the roof is properly sealed, this will result in cost savings, as the roof can act as an insulating material.

How a roof is restored

Roof restoration is a lengthy process that can take a few days to complete. Initially, a professional will come and assess your property's roof and decide what needs to be done. They will then pay great attention to detail and work on your roof step by step. These steps involve roof cleaning, repairing and painting. The final result will be inspected by a quality control manager to ensure that the job has been done properly. It is important to choose a service with industry experience and take a look at their portfolio to gain the best roof restoration results.

Ryan's New Roofing Blog

Hello, my name is Ryan and this is my blog. I don't work in the roofing industry but I recently had to spend a week on the roof of my home trying to fix it up. I am pretty good at DIY, but in the end, I had to call in a roofing contractor to help me out. I decided to replace the entire roof and that wasn't a job I was going to take on my own. I have learnt a lot during the past few weeks and I hope to use this blog to pass on some of my knowledge.
