4 Reasons to Install a Skylight in Your Master Bedroom

Blog

Installing a skylight in almost any room presents a wide range of benefits, but they can make a particularly attractive addition to a master bedroom. It might not be something you've considered before, but here are just four compelling benefits to adding a skylight in your master bedroom.

1. Exceptional Privacy

Out of all the rooms in your home, the bedroom is probably where you're going to be most in need of privacy. It's where you get dressed in the morning and undressed at night, as well as where you'll usually be intimate with your partner. Since it's where you sleep, it's also where you'll want to feel most protected. With a skylight, you can bring in natural light without having to worry about privacy. Unless you happen to live next to a high-rise building, nobody is going to be able to look into your bedroom as they would through a traditional window.

2. Unbeatable Views

Skylights aren't just great for preventing other people from looking in. They also provide you with a great view. Since a bedroom is where you're going to be regularly lying down instead of sitting up, it makes sense to ensure you're looking at the sky above rather than simply staring at the ceiling. Fit a skylight over your bed and you'll be able to look up into the clear blue sky during the day and then take in the stars at night.

3. Better Sleep Patterns

People are becoming increasingly aware of how natural sunlight impacts the way they sleep. There's truly no better way to wake up than from natural sunlight streaming in from above. In fact, your body is naturally designed to wake up in response to natural sunlight. While a traditional window can still bring in light, the experience is far better when lights come in above a skylight. You can even take this benefit further by installing a smart blind that slowly raises at the time you wish to get up.

4. Great for Reading

While plenty of people only use their beds for sleeping, many like to sit and read in bed. That means finding a strong and consistent light source to keep your eyes from getting tired, and traditional windows can't compete with skylights in this regard. Skylights bring in more light during more of the day, and the fact that light comes in from above is perfect when you're reading.

Ryan's New Roofing Blog

Hello, my name is Ryan and this is my blog. I don't work in the roofing industry but I recently had to spend a week on the roof of my home trying to fix it up. I am pretty good at DIY, but in the end, I had to call in a roofing contractor to help me out. I decided to replace the entire roof and that wasn't a job I was going to take on my own. I have learnt a lot during the past few weeks and I hope to use this blog to pass on some of my knowledge.
